Family Life

At Gateway, we want to help to build strong families and relationships. Alongside the support that comes from being part of a life group, we offer a number of programmes.  These are open to everyone, whether or not they are part of the church.

Parenting Classes – We have links with Family Matters York who organise a range of parenting workshops from toddlers to teens throughout the city. Visit the website for more information http://www.fmy.org.uk

Marriage Preparation – FOCCUS is an internationally used inventory designed to provide engaged couples and those working with them a PERSONALIZED PROFILE of what is needed in their marriage preparation process. We can arrange for couples to do the inventory online and then help them to discuss the results. We also have information on Alpha Marriage Preparation courses. For more information and dates of courses go to http://www.fmy.org.uk

The Marriage Course – We invite couples to participate in the Alpha Marriage Course - 8 weekly sessions designed to help any couple strengthen their relationship. The evening includes a meal, a presentation and opportunities for couples to discuss issues raised. There is no group work! For further information go to http://themarriagecourse.org.

Couples in Crisis – Family Matters York has a team of people, including members of Gateway, who are trained to help couples rebuild their relationship. Four sessions are offered that focus on issues that contribute to relationship breakdown. First point of contact is FMY office: Tel 01904 639767.

Pregnancy Crisis - Reflect is a counselling service based in York that is specifically for women and men facing an unplanned or crisis pregnancy. Drop in sessions are available Thursday 7:30pm - 9:30pm and Friday 3.00pm - 5.00pm at the Gateway Centre. Call 01904 67 67 10 or TEXT 07530 611 441 and you will be contacted with an appointment. For further information go to http://www.reflectyork.co.uk.
